Engineers Week 2018 got off to a flying start on Saturday, 24th February, with over 800 events and activities scheduled to take place in schools, libraries and organisations nationwide, making Engineers Week 2018 our most successful year yet in terms of event numbers and outreach.
Unfortunately, due to adverse weather conditions, a number of events were postponed nationwide.
Now that the weather warnings have been lifted, we plan to pick up exactly where we left off and continue on with Engineers Week celebrations throughout the month of March.
We are delighted to announce that following free, open events will be going ahead later in the month:
- NUI Galway’s Student-run Energy Summit will now be held on Thursday, March 8th at the Bailey Allen Hall at NUI Galway from 4pm.
- Limerick for Engineering Showcasehas now been deferred to Thursday March 8th at 6.00pm at Shannon Airport Departures Hall. http://www.limerickforengineering.ie/
- South-East Megadojo will now go ahead on Sunday, April 15th at the Newpark Hotel, Kilkenny.
- DIT will now host their event: “Creating a diverse and inclusive workplace for engineering & construction – lessons learned from other industries” on Tuesday, March 20th at DIT Bolton Street from 6 – 8pm.
We would like to see the preplanning, hard work and effort of our volunteers be put to the best possible use, so we encourage those of you who were unable to carry out your Engineers Week event in the latter half of last week to try to reschedule your event where possible in the month of March. Once you have arranged a new date, please let the STEPS team know so that we can update the Engineers Week website and help promote your event.
With your support we will continue to do our best to make sure that Engineers Week 2018 will be our biggest and best year yet!
