Teacher Elaine Lavelle said: “A local engineer gave a fantastic presentation to 5th and 6th class pupils all about the work of engineers and his own field of excellence. The pupils were then given a task to complete. The task was to build a table from paper and card. Obviously some found their paper tables unsteady and, just as engineers do, they tried to solve the problems encountered by inserting supports and fine-rolling their tubes of paper. The pupils had an excellent day.” [Engineers Week 2013]
